March President Message
It's only March and the weather has been pretty mild for the late winter. Makes it nice to get in the dirt and start getting your share of the gold this year. Gold is still on the rise and almost to the $1700. mark. Our gold bags that are offered at the Hats & Shirts table have had a very slight adjustment made by them from the supplier that we get them from. Still the best gold panning bags around. Last meeting, we had an awesome turnout with 110 attending. What a night! Two more months for the renewal period and hopefully we will be over 160 mark come May. Remember the goal for the year is 200 members or better. We now have new updated membership cards that you can exchange at the meeting if you want to do so. Also, the idea was brought up to have a nicer heavier card with a 10 yr. punch out area so every year all you will have to do is get your card punched for that year. Saves a lot of time and expenses to do it this way. There will have to be a special punch made that will be one of a kind in order for the cards to be punched. We will bring it up at the meeting on Tuesday for the members input on it. THANK YOU! Also, John Semone had shared an idea about club vests being made for the members like a lot of the clubs wear at different show events to represent their clubs. We will bring this forward at the meeting to see how much interest is there. we will have a signup sheet also at the meeting for the upcoming Gem Show to be held in April on the 17th thru the 19th. for those wanting to volunteer to sit at the table during the show and help those activities that are presented there. Gold panning club information etc. We will be located once again on the upper deck as the visitors walk into the building. Also, for the March meeting do not forget to bring those tickets that have been given out at the January and February meeting and the third one at the March meeting for the special 3-month ticket draw. This will be the first on for the year. PLEASE PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS PART. If you are sick or have any other unknown sickness going on. Please stay home get some rest and get better. The UCCC center will be opened for the meeting on Tuesday. If there are any changes that arise, we will notify the members on the clubs web page or on the clubs Facebook page. We should be good to go! We are trading rolls of toilet paper for the $20. gold bags. 10 rolls get you a $20. bag of gold panning sand and 20 rolls will get you your membership card for the year. WTF LMAO! Just kidding. Also, all the members that live out in Magna. your safe due to the large amount of copper in the water. Just be safe and stay healthy out there. We will need some good feedback at the meeting on Tuesday on what Gary Holt had presented about the Hoyt Peak project. He will be coming back for the May presentation to fine tune what again is being offered and getting his waivers signed if you want to go up there this year. If anything, it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity here to go up without trespassing on the claims. Will see! For the April meeting we will have Jim Davis from the Utah Geological Survey to hopefully talk about the Hoyt Peak complex. Form the meeting on Tuesday night we will have Robert Scott Bell from Sovereign Silver. doing the presentation. And it will be titled "Silver! Not Just A Precious Metal." There is more to it than that. Then just making silver dollars and bullion. Well, that probably about covers it for now. Let’s all stay healthy out there and keep using out common sense.
The Wasatch Gem Society's Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show April 17th 18th & 19th has been Canceled at this time to ensure the health and safety of its members. If/When they reschedule we will let you know.
